Martin Seel's philosophical column in Die Zeit was an institution: from 1998 to 2001 he informed his readers, reviewing and reasoning, about current topics and trends in the international philosophical debate. Issues normally only discussed in small circles thus reached the public. Almost all areas of philosophy are covered in these columns, resulting in a compendium of modern philosophy and a guide to present modes of thinking. Numerous important philosophers of our time are assembled here, as well as others still to be discovered. For the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Martin Seel's books stand out for "readibility and intelligent prose". This volume, too, presents him as one of the outstanding stylists of his profession.
