The Journey to Tell Al-Lahm
Najem returns from the Kuwaiti front to bad news. The woman-next-door tells him his wife has run off with her husband. She persuades him to travel with her to the mysterious town of Tell al-Lahm (»Mountain of Meat«), a thousand miles away. On the way, Najem Wali reveals the history and secret longings of his protagonists – and the face of a country scarred by dictatorship and two terrible wars.
