A summer like many before in the small seaside town: Lena works in her parents' restaurant, tourists come for lunch and dinner, and at least one interesting boy is among them, Felix. But then something eerie happens – at high tide, the sea suddenly retreats and doesn't come back. In the dry bay before the town an old sailing ship appears, the "Whirlwind" as it says on the prow. The "Whirlwind", however, is a ship on which one of Lena's ancestors went to sea 200 years ago, a ship long considered lost and of which only the figurehead had remained. The carved head has adorned the wall of the "Mussel Room" in her parents' restaurant for ages. And the ghost ship out there in the bay is missing a figurehead...

What has happened? People hear voices on the deserted ship but only Lena sees the helmsman, her ancestor, whose logbook her grandmother tells her about. Will it provide the answer to the mystery? And would that put and end to the spookiness? Lena and Felix decide to find out, and Lena soon realizes that she has no choice anyway.
