The touching and funny story of a boy who wants to be a groundhog, at least for as long as the winter lasts.

It takes some time for Franz and Albert the groundhog to become friends, but from that moment on they are inseparable. That is, until the first snow falls and Albert disappears without trace. "But that's what groundhogs do," says Franz's father. "They sleep all winter. That way they don't have to forage for food in the cold." This sounds tough to Franz, but he decides if Albert can manage it, he'll prove what a good friend he is by hibernating too – in a big old box up in the attic. At least, he'll give it a go …
