Alex Capus: Skidoo (Buchtrailer)
Whenever Alex Capus goes travelling, he fetches up in one-horse settlements that remind him of his hometown, Olten. His trip to the Wild West is no exception: he spends his nights in ghost towns, goes down abandoned silver mines and scours Death Valley for traces of stagecoach robbers. And he chances on the most outlandish stories: in Bodie, gravediggers were forced to blast out plots with dynamite; in Skidoo, Hootch Simpson was hanged twice before he was beheaded; and in Tusaya, the Zuni Indians led the Spanish invaders a merry dance. The last leg of his voyage takes the author to Flagstaff, Arizona, where he discovers that the legendary Route 66 is little more than an old camel track.
