A long poem about 2020, the year when the normality of our everyday lives collapsed
Two years after the first lockdown, Björn Kuhligk attempts to capture the unfathomable, presenting a long poem about the experience that has changed us all more than we can say. »The emptiness/ in front of me and myself in the rearview mirror/ the emptiness behind me« is how the journey documenting the cycle of that year begins. Downtime spiralled into lethargy, borders were closed except to Romanian asparagus-pickers, and selfies projected people in states of dishevelment, helplessness and need. With a socio-critical eye and a photographer’s instinct, Kuhligk takes snapshots of feelings and observations with long-lasting effects.
“Kuhligk goes to the limits with his poetry.”
