W.G. Sebald

A joint project by writer W.G. Sebald and painter Jan Peter Tripp, in preparation for a long time and now published posthumously.

W.G. Sebald, the writer, was a lifelong admirer of hyper-realistic painter and etcher Jan Peter Tripp about whose work he wrote several essays. After Sebald's death in 2001, their first jointly planned book is published now as the legacy of a long artistic friendship: 33 pairs of eyes and 33 short texts. As Andrea Koehler explains in her foreword, pictures and texts are not supposed to complement or even illustrate each other but "to enter into a dialogue", a "long-lasting exchange of perspectives". The limited and numbered special edition contains a portrait of Sebald signed by Tripp. A book for all readers of W.G. Sebald and all admirers of Jan Peter Tripp's artwork.
