Letter to the Godless Women

The three women to whom Holl entrusts his thoughts represent many of today's women who have banned the old father-in-heaven from their lives. "When women realize that they can do very well without God, angels lose their wings and devils their horns. Moses, Jesus and Mohammed are revealed as deceivers deceived. The ecstasies of female mystics are transformed, in retrospect, into sublimated eroticism, the tortures of holy women into masochistic excesses." Adolf Holl places all his hope in female scepticism, female radicality and female laughter. His treaty seeks to incite women and to encourage them to take history into their own hands – which would, ultimately, be for the benefit of men, too.
