Poet Johannes Kühn is an exceptional figure in German literature. "Discovered" late, critics and readers have since welcomed him for his independence, and the pursuit of his own path, away from literary fashions and the book business, has given him a truly original voice. It is the very obstinacy with which he maintains his resistance to the spirit of the age that shows poetry has not lost its power to convince.
