The story begins when Conradin catches not a fish but a tiny little man, who invites him to the Midnight Meeting on the bottom of the reservoir. And what a strange meeting that is! Conradin meets the River Ghost of Rumpelbach and Slithering Suzy from Schletzbachtal, all dancing to the Stollenfetzer's jolly sounds. But behind the cheerfulness a big problem looms: the ghosts are angry because the reservoir makes their lives more and more miserable. Streams run dry, fish leave for wetter places and, the cruellest blow of all, they can't even spook around as they used to! If things go on like this, the ghosts will host their next dance in town, and that will be a nasty surprise for the humans! They ask Conradin to be their messenger, and he agrees – but will it help? We can only hope…
