Bull's Appetite

Bull's Appetite

Linda Stift

While looking into a pastry shop window, a young woman meets an elderly lady who offers to share a ring cake with her. Spontaneously she accepts the invitation. The older woman, who resembles the Austrian Empress Elizabeth in hairstyle and clothing, lives with a servant in an apartment full of bizarre trinkets and souvenirs. More invitations follow and more cake-eating orgies, and seemingly harmless visits to the museum turn out to be meticulously planned raids to get hold of more exhibits – the empress's cocaine syringe, for example. If necessary, the ladies do not even stop at using explosives. The young woman has turned into an accomplice, and a long suppressed disease, bulimia, or "the appetite of a bull", has also returned...

Linda Stift leads us behind the crumbling facades of everyday life, to places where madness is never far away.

"Impressive indeed, how Linda Stift breaks the world down into frightening fragments." (Susanne Messmer, taz)
