Thomas de Padova was born in 1965 in Neuwied am Rhein. He studied physics and astronomy in Bonn und Bologna. He was formerly the science editor for the Tagesspiegel and worked in 2014 as a journalist in residence for the History of Science at the Max-Planck-Institut. His latest publications by Hanser are: Allein gegen die Schwerkraft (2015) and Nonna (2018).
