Josefine Rieks was born in 1988 in Höxter, studied philosophy and lives in Berlin. She wrote the screenplay for the no-budget movie U3000 – Tod einer Indieband. In 2017 she received the Alfred Döblin Scholarship. Serverland is her first novel.
