Eckhard Roelcke, born 1960 in Heidelberg, studied musicology and journalism in Münster and Hamburg, worked as an arts editor for the Zeit and, since 1993, as a free-lance journalist in Berlin. He is a regular contributor for Spiegel and FAZ.
