Ari Rath

Ari Rath was born in Vienna in 1925 and forced to emigrate in 1938. In the post-war years, he was a founding member of Kibbutz Chamadiya in what was then Palestine. From 1957 he was editor of the Jerusalem Post, and from 1975 he was the newspaper’s editor-in-chief and publisher. A member of the generation of Yitzhak Rabin, Teddy Kolleg and Shimon Perez, he was political adviser to David Ben-Gurion. In 2005 he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, and in 2011 he received the Grand Order of Merit for Services Rendered to the Republic of Austria.
