Albrecht Wellmer

Albrecht Wellmer was born in 1933. He studied mathematics, physics, philosophy and sociology, becoming a disciple of the musicologist and philosopher Theodor W. Adorno. Until his retirement in 2001, he taught at New York's New School for Social Research, as well as at the University of Constance and at the Free University in Berlin. In 2006 he was awarded the city of Frankfurt's prestigious Theodor W. Adorno Prize for his outstanding work in the field of philosophy and music.
